You know you have a rodent problem if:

• You hear loud noises and squeaks during the night; rodents tend to make noise as they walk on the ceiling, the attic or on the floor.
• You find gnaw or bite marks on wooden structures and food containers; rodents that leave their greasy marks behind risk the contamination of your food items
• You find smear marks/foot stains/grease marks on walls and pipes; rodents’ body release an oily stain that can usually be found on their body and feet:
• You find urine trails and can most likely smell an acidic pungent smell; rodents have weak bladders and tend to dribble all over the place. Mixed with the smear marks left behind, the smell of urine can easily intensify.
• You find poop in and around active places such as food gathering areas and undisturbed resting sites; rodents are prolific poopers, meaning that they can produce 35-75 droppings per day. On the left rat feces, on the right mouse:

Rodent Problem and Solutions by BugsStop

• You recognize weird nests built from piles of paper, cotton and other soft materials in the house or ceilings (Roof Rat); rodent nests are easy to recognize as they always make a burrow underground (usually Norway Rats) or a cozy and warm nest.

What to do when you have rodent problems:

• To catch a rat/mice in the house, I suggest to place the Controz Rodent Glue Board at those active areas that the rodent may frequently visit. This product comes with a “pre-baited scent” that acts as an attractant to rodents while it also subsequently increases the trap’s performance.
It is important to choose a “poison-free” kind of the Controz Rodent Glue Board to ensure the safety of your family members and prevent the inhaling of the toxic materials found on it. Do not place the glue board in areas where even kids and other pets can reach, for it is going to be close to improbable for rodents to get trapped in those areas because they favor secret and more hard-to-reach places as their comfort zone. The use of a good and reliable adhesive tape is necessary to minimize the success of a rodent escaping from the glue board during its struggling action once trapped. Remember: do not place the glue board at open areas where they do not touch with corners or wall edges because rodents prefer moving along the sides of the wall in order to feel more secure:

• If you find grease or smear marks in and around places where the glue board is not advised to be placed at, then use the Trapper T-Rex Rat Snap Trap and tighten it with a cable tie on the piping with a minimum of two traps side by side, one face up or left and another face down or right, to ensure a “no way run” trap for the rodent no matter which side it is coming from.
To enhance the trap’s performance and effectiveness, I suggest to place a rat’s favorite food in the Trapper T-Rex Rat Snap Trap. Always remember to handle this tool with extreme care:

• Once we eradicate the little munchers, our next task is to get rid of the bad smell they leave after a successful capture. The granulated All Natural Cough Odor Remover could be an excellent companion in this quest. You have to scatter the granules around the place where the rats were found, then leave it overnight. After the smell has been absorbed by the granules, vacuum them away.
• If the source of the bad smell can’t be determined precisely, you may want to hang the Earth Care Odor Remover Bag in and around the areas of the bad smell. The product uses an airborne-particle-absorbing technology to reach its purpose. Usually, one bag per room is sufficient, but for the living room, you may require 2-3 bags.
• Always wear a disposable glove and mask when removing dead rats and mice from your house, for they carry some very nasty and infectious germs that may affect your health. To do things the right way, use a Standard Snake Tong to quickly grab the rodent and throw it into a garbage bag. Make sure to tighten the plastic bag well and do not inhale from it.
• If none of the above is possible, make sure to call for the assistance of a Professional PCO.

How to prevent rodents from ever coming back:

• Prepare control plans against rodent penetration into your home.
• Use the Bytrac program as your preventive measure and squeeze the repellent gel into those small holes, cracks and crevices that the rodent could potentially utilize as an entry point
This repellent gel is an excellent way to subsequently prevent rodents from entering your house due to its “burning and hot” feel that it brings out in these creatures:

Bytrac Pest Control Products

• After the Bytrac has been applied, inspect the effectiveness of the product by checking on the areas treated from time to time. It may last from 3-6 months depending on the environment, and it is also very easy to remove with soapy water.
• Re-apply again at will.

Common Species:

• Black rat (Rattus rattus)
• Brown rat (Rattus norvegicus)
• Mouse (Rattus rattus)

Interesting Facts:

• Rats are causes of many diseases due to their living conditions. They are sources of hantavirus fever, salmonellosis (food-poisoning), rat-bite fever, plague and many others.
• Plague was believed to be the cause of the death of around 50 million people during the “Black Death” in the 14th century across all Asia, Europe and Africa!
• Rats have also been accused of being a significant factor in Africa’s food crisis, for they are expert crop damaging creatures.
• Other than food contamination and disease transmission, rats have also been found as one of the reasons behind a large number of house fires as they basically bite and gnaw on everything, including the electrical wiring!
• Rats’ front teeth can grow 4 – 5 inches every year, and this is why they must chew on hard items to stop them from growing too much.
• A female rat can mate as many as 500 times with various males during a six-hour period. Given that they mate more than 15 times per year, they can easily give birth to up to 2000 rats in a single year. This fact alone warrants a more militant approach to them. ]]> Mosquito Problem https://bugs-stop.com/mosquito-problem/ Mon, 02 Oct 2017 17:13:11 +0000

You know you have a mosquito problem if:

• You hear annoying wing buzz around your ear (Especially those of the female mosquitoes)
• You witness itchy bumps on the exposed parts of your skin (They are called “mosquito bites”)
• Use outdoor and indoor mosquito traps to monitor mosquito presence and activity in and around the house. One of the best ways to do that is by using a specific trap for adult female mosquito monitoring that is also widely used by the Singapore National Environment Agency (NEA). It is called the Gravitrap.
• You notice a large number of mosquitoes flying out from dark corners and spots both in the house and in bushy areas outside.
To flush out these buggers, spot check such dark corners of the house by also paying attention to nearby vegetation and bushy areas outside. When you find them, spray the mosquito repellent onto those places and keep checking the number of flying mosquitoes repelled. Few aerosol products have been found to be efficient on them, including EcoPCO ACU and Controz AIK aerosol.
• Try and mark down any potential mosquito breeding sites around your house (water sources of 1-inch deep, rain puddle size are already sufficient for them to lay their eggs).

What to do when you have mosquito problems:

• When you go outside to do some sports, trekking, family gathering or any other outdoor activities, you may want to protect yourself from mosquito bites. If that is the case, the organic Forest Bath Lavender Flavor Mosquito Repellent might be the best choice. It must be applied onto the exposed skin before leaving the house. You can also bring it along in your hand bag or backpack and reapply the repellent every 4-6 hours for better protection.
• Try using your mosquito spray to beat them off by directly spraying on them while they are actively flying around either in your house or garden. To make it a sure shot, you need to understand the right time to do it. For example, in order for you to get rid of the “Dengue” mosquito (scientifically named as Aedes mosquito), use the odorless aerosol product called Controz AIK aerosol for indoor application between the time range of about 5 to 7 pm (Pre-sunset). Try to get all the spraying done both inside and outside at around the same time for maximum efficiency so you can create a mosquito-safe zone. The following two products have been proved to be efficient: Ecosmart Flying Insect Killer, Ecosmart Mosquito Fogger.
• If the particular garden is big, we can’t just use the small aerosol or spraying can for a thorough mosquito control. In that case, you may want to consider the use of the Ecosmart Mosquito & Tick Control. Connect it with the water hose (may be required to purchase a simple plastic connector from a hardware shop if the water hose size is incompatible with the product) so that you can have a proper garden spray to get rid of the mosquitoes hiding around or inside the vegetation. This application process can be completed at anytime you want:

How to prevent mosquitoes from ever coming back:

• Prevention is still considered to be the most proactive measure you can take to protect yourself from mosquito bites. The only way to do that is by making sure you can kill the mosquito larvae that live in stagnant water sources (including vegetation, roof gutter, tree hole, waste container, drainage, planter boxes, etc.) well before they have a chance to develop.
• Abate sand granule is an excellent alternative to use in any container that may be a potential mosquito breeding site, however, if you concern yourself with the clearing of the sand residue, you may want to use the Relief T instead, for it has the same mosquito larva killing function. It will also dissolve well in water. Still, the best way is to reduce all the potential water sources, if possible. Abate application:

• One bonus tip that could help protect you from mosquito bites is a special product called Kool-Kool Cooling Spray. It is advisable to use before the application of the Forest Bath Lavender Flavor Mosquito Repellent to enhance its protection effect as it will reduce our body temperature and become hard to detect by the warm temperature sensitive mosquitoes.

Common Species:

• Dengue mosquito (Aedes aegypti)
• Night biting mosquito (Culex sp.)
• Malaria mosquito (Anopheles sp.)

Fun Facts

• For every mg of human blood digested by a mosquito, it is capable of providing nutrients to 40 eggs. Thus, one mosquito bite will be sufficient to feed up to hundreds of(200-300) eggs laid by a single female mosquito!
Mosquitoes are some of the most deadly animals in the world, because mosquito bites alone can result in the deaths of >1 million people per year with an average >2700 people dying every day due to mosquito-related disease transmissions.
• The World Health Organization has come to the conclusion that there are at least 300 to 500 million cases of malaria recorded each year — a child dies from malaria every 30 seconds.
Mosquitoes can spread a number of diseases to people, including Malaria, Dengue, Dengue hemorrhagic, Filariasis, West Nile Fever, Chikungunya, Yellow fever, Japanese Encephalitis, etc. ]]> Cockroach Problem https://bugs-stop.com/cockroach-problem/ Sun, 01 Oct 2017 16:08:39 +0000

https://demos.3amarketingsolution.com/bugstop/?p=6362 You know you have a cockroach problem if:

• You can smell a strong unpleasant oily or musky odour (it indicate a long-term infestation or that a lot of cockroaches are hiding nearby).
• You suddenly start experiencing continuous allergic reactions (cockroaches do carry lots of allergic particles on their body, and they usually transmit those through feces or shed skin).
• You start seeing an unknown black pepper-like stain (the fecal spot of cockroaches).
• You hear on-and-off crawling motions during night time (cockroaches can run 80cm per second, which equals to 15-50 times of their length per second).
• You find signs of its egg cases laying around the floor. They look like a miniaturized form of a fragmented coin bag or hand gun bullet case, and it is as small as ½ the size of a Singapore 5-cent coin (one egg case can hatch several numbers of young cockroaches, 14-44 youngsters).
• Mark down potential cockroach hiding places and check everywhere. Small cockroaches usually hide on kitchen appliances, in cracks and crevices, and under cabinet folding seams; big cockroaches can mainly be found in the manhole, drainage, bin chutes and toilets; if needed, you may use the EcoPCO ACU or Controz AIK aerosol to spray onto the potential area.

What to do when you have cockroach problems:

• The best course of action is to kill the cockroaches by using the efficient aerosol (Control AIK aerosol) or spraying product (Home Pest Control) straight on them. However, beware that choosing the right aerosol is important as some aerosols are specifically formulated for only flying insects and may not be efficient when used against crawling insect like cockroaches.
• If the number of cockroaches are high, or the cockroaches cannot easily be found and directly be exposed to the spray, I suggest to apply the gel baiting to control the cockroach invasion and even bring about the termination of a potential hidden population. The list of products available include Advion Cockroach Gel and Controz Cockroach Gel. When applying the gel baiting, remember to place it near the edge of a wall and to the suspected cockroach hiding place/active crawling area for the greatest possible exposure. (For example, cracks and crevices in the kitchen area, near the rubbish bin, in the cabinet or drawer and around the floor trap area). You may apply the gel in a size of a small green bean diameter (<5mm) but placing a little bit more may bring better and quicker results:

Controz Cockroach Gel by BugsStop

How to prevent cockroaches from ever coming back:

• I suggest using the Bytrac repellent gel for safety purposes to seal off all possible cracks and crevices that are highly potential places for cockroaches to once again infiltrate your home. It is easy: just squeeze the grease gel onto any small crack and gap to block crawling insects, including ants.
• Bytrac serves as a long-term preventive measure against cockroach-infestation from at least 6 months up to a year depending on environmental conditions. Recommended to use with 0.5 – 1cm thickness (the hole size of the tube has been fixed for the optimum thickness and needs no special adjustment) of the gel layer, and the length will depend on the size of the target cracks and crevices. A tight and complete sealing with the gel is important to prevent the future reoccurrence of cockroaches:

Bytrac repellent gel

• Housekeeping and cleaning is also essential to reduce the possibility of cockroach infiltration by reducing the amount of food and water left out on the counter/table. This practice alone will help create a non-preferable living environment for these cockroaches.

Common Species:

• American cockroach (Periplaneta Americana)
• German cockroach (Blattella germanica)
• Brown-banded cockroach (Supella longipalpa)

Fun Facts

• A recent article claimed that a total of 174 types of bacteria were isolated from 39 smaller cockroaches. Having said that, one single cockroach is capable of carrying an average of 4-5 types of bacteria (imagine when they crawl across your food! Ewwww!)
Cockroach is omnivorous and a scavenger-like insect; this means that it can feed on almost everything, including cosmetics, beer, potted plants, wallpaper paste, soap, postage stamps, fermenting fruit, pet food, human food, or even their own species’ dead body, and so forth.
• Due to the cockroach’s unhygienic behaviour, they are considered one of the most dangerous disease transmitting insects, for they often carry diseases like diarrhoea, dysentery, cholera, leprosy, typhoid fever, etc.

https://demos.3amarketingsolution.com/bugstop/?p=6359 You know you have a bird problem if:

• You find bird nests in your building at high, concealed, undisturbed, flat and hard-to-reach areas (flat roofs or gaps in tall buildings or residential houses)
• You hear a sort of high-pitched “crying sound” that birds make; it means that young birds cry for food. It can sometimes be just one bird making all the noise.
• You witness ugly bird droppings concentrated in one particular spot or area in the building. Sometimes, the droppings can also be found together with the piles of the bird nests or feather debris. Given that the bird droppings are acidic (mostly white in colour, but it is not unusual to find them in grass-green colour, too), they cause corrosive damage to the building surface, paints and average appearance.
• You find bird fouling on the roof of the building.

What to do when you have bird-related problems:

• Consider applying the PCS gel to create a repelling zone for pest birds so that they are forced not to land on unwanted surfaces like the balcony that may create a chance for them to fly in the house.
By using the bait gun (which can easily be purchased from hardware shops; used for silicone gel tubes), push the PCS gel to the 0.5-1cm thickness and lay it on the flat surface in a zig-zag pattern. For small-size birds (such as sprarrow), the zig-zag gel line will be at its wide of 1-3 cm while 3-6 cm will be used for large-size birds (like pigeon, myna or crow). PCS gel application:

PCS gel as a birds control products

• Despite all that, the surface treated can get coated with dust and dirt very easily, which is not quite ideal for the PCS gel. In case that happens, it is a good thing that it can be replaced with the Avipoint P20 that is just as good as a bird spike to prevent pigeons from landing on unwanted surfaces. To have a good and strong adhere base of the Avipoint P20, kindly clean the surface first, then adhere the base via the clear and strong silicone glue. To make the Avipoint P20 even more effective against small-size birds, I suggest to apply the PCS gel in between of each bird spike space to form a continuous protection zone against bird landings.
• In case of heavy bird infestation, utilize the help of a professional Pest Bird Control Operator to inspect, plan, install and prevent.

How to prevent birds from ever coming back:

• Facilitate the assistance of a professional pest bird control operator or just refer to the solutions outlined above.
• For cleaning the bird droppings, I suggest to use the Prontech first to clear and kill all the microorganisms (such as bacteria, virus or fungus), then remove the stain by washing it with the detergent. Then wash it all away with the help of water and a scrubbing brush. Mix 4g of granulated Prontech into 1L of water and use it for the cleaning process for maximum efficiency and safety.

Common Species:

• Feral Pigeon (Columba livia
• Javan Myna (Acridotheres javanicus
• Common Myna (Acridotheres tristis
• Eurasian Tree Sparrow (Passer montanus
• Crow (Corvus splendens)

Fun Facts

• Pest birds and their droppings can carry over 60 different diseases! These include histoplasmosis (caused by fungus in bird droppings: respiratory disease), food poisoning (caused by the bacteria or parasites in bird droppings: Salmonella, E.coli), Avian Flu (caused by a virus in birds or their droppings: a fatal disease) and many others.
• Other than diseases, birds are also considered a “good host” for many extoparasites (over 50 kinds of ectoparasites), including bed bugs/ poultry bug, chicken mites, bird louse, tick and various others.
• With more than 400 million pigeons worldwide, the human urbanization has been identified as one of the main factors driving the increase of pigeon population.
• Annual damages are estimated to reach up to US $1.2 billion. These damages usually happen to commercial aircrafts worldwide due to bird strikes/ bird hits that usually mean the collision of a bird with the windscreen or engines of an aircraft!

https://demos.3amarketingsolution.com/bugstop/?p=6347 You know you have a bed bug problem if:

• You find bed bug droppings called blood stains in your bed or other fabric; these blood stains/droppings refer to the waste they leave behind after blood digestion in their guts. It is usually shown in dark, black or sometimes yellowish spots as stains, and it often signals the hiding place of a bed bug itself.
• You can smell a pungent odour (better described as a sweet over-ripening fruit smell; coriander herb/Chinese parsley smell; light petrol-like smell) that usually signals that there are lots of bed bugs in the room.
• You find small shed skin fragments all around the room; bed bugs shed their skin (exoskeleton) that will probably be scattered all around the floor or in hidden places. Bed bugs need to shed their skin when they are growing, and they leave the old skin behind as they do so. This is a process called the “shedding”.
• You are starting to experience itchy swellings and redness on all possibly exposed body parts; such symptoms are usually caused by bed bugs. Even after the swellings have subsided, dark pigments may still remain on the skin for a certain period of time that are commonly known as bed bug “visit marks.” If the same skin area is being bitten by a bed bug frequently, a dry, scale-like and dark patch will appear in its stead.
• Remember: Making sure you have bug problem is never easy. If you are not confident enough as to how you can go about performing proper inspection, another easy diagnosis you may do is using bed bug monitoring tools. The First Response Bed Bug Monitor will be a valuable companion, for all you have to do is place it around the bedding area where suspected bed bug activities may occur overnight. You will get the results in the morning. Please try to place this trap only in the evening (preferably 1 hour before sleep) for better results. First Response Bed Bug Monitor is used like this:

Use of Bed bugs pest control products

How to control Bed bugs problem

What to do when you have bed bug problems:

• The most efficient way to kill bed bugs is by using the efficient aerosol (Control AIK aerosol) or spraying products (Defender, Ecosmart Bed Bug Killer for Cracks & Crevices or Ecosmart Bed Bug Killer for Mattress & Carpets) straight on them whenever you see them. If that is not possible, you may use those products on bed bug preferred areas directly: behind the head board (usually fabric or wooden-based materials), at/in the bed frame or the bed roller, if any; in the corner or along the mattress’ folded seams; in the pillow or mattress case; skirting board; behind the wall painting or photo; surrounding the nail on the wall; along the parquet floor, behind loose wallpapers and in and around any other concealed items within a 3-meter range from the bed.
• If they found their way into your luggage or similar items, use those aforementioned aerosol products on them, and do not forget to remove the item from the place where the bed bug activity is suspected.
• Under NO circumstance should you spray aerosol products on clothes or expensive items made from/with fabric. If you intend to do so anyway, please try a little bit on the target item first to ensure that you do not accidentally cause permanent damage/stain on the item in question. The reason for that is because such materials can’t be treated with any product; the suggested course of action would be to soak or wash it with hot water on at least 60°C for a minimum of 30 minutes, if possible, or try dry cleaning it with a chemical solvent called perchloroethylene (a.k.a “Perc”, or with symbol)

How to prevent bed bugs from ever coming back:

• Once accidentally brought into the house, bed bugs can reproduce and spread at an elevated rate. What I usually suggest is to carry out a good preventive measure within the confines of an exclusion plan – do not bring the bed bug back!
This can be done with caution if done the right way. Every time we go for a travel, pre-check the booked hotel room with a good torchlight (by paying particular attention to the mattresses and head board areas) before putting all of our luggage in one confined space. After our initial recon has been completed, spray the Ecosmart Bed bug Repellent on the outer casing of the luggage and surrounding the bed frame to keep yourself and the luggage safe from possible bed bug intrusion. Remember to double check your items before check-out to ensure you and your luggage is “clear” from unwanted bed bugs.
• I suggest applying the Bytrac repellent gel for safety purposes to seal off all possible cracks and crevices that are highly potential places bed bugs might hide within to catch a ride into your home. It is easy: just squeeze the grease gel onto any small crack and gap to block crawling insects, including the renowned bed bugs.
Bytrac serves as a long-term preventive measure against bed bug infestation from at least 6 months up to a year depending on environmental conditions. Recommended to use with 0.5 – 1cm thickness (the hole size of the tube has been fixed for the optimum thickness and needs no special adjustment) of the gel layer, and the length will depend on the size of the target cracks and crevices. A tight and complete sealing with the gel is important to prevent the future reoccurrence of beg bugs.

Common Species:

• Common bed bug (Cimex lectularius)
• Tropical bed bug (Cimex hemipterus)

Fun Facts:

• Until today, bed bug has not yet been reported to spread any serious disease, however, its bites can not only cause itchy swellings and dark patches but may also subsequently trigger the allergic reaction called urticarial reactions or anaphylaxis.
Also some people might also develop psychological symptom such as delusionary parasitosis (patients feel the bed bug is around and may develop some skin reaction even though there is no bed bug around).
Bed bugs hatching from their eggs can grow up within 3-4 weeks, which means they grow exponentially every year. One female is able to produce 50-100 eggs, and within just a few months, a house can easily become heavily infested. Once they totally infiltrated the premises, it is going to be difficult to eradicate them.
• Tropical bed bug is dominant in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar and other countries, because they can easily survive without food up to 1-2 months in the tropical climate.

https://demos.3amarketingsolution.com/bugstop/?p=6343 You know you have an ant problem if:

• You find ant trails around food items or water nearby. It is easy to spot when there is an ant troop crawling up and down in a line around the house.
• You find a small piece of food that the ants have totally invaded.

What to do when you have ant-related problems:

• Directly apply the products called Ecosmart Ant & Roach Killer and Ecosmart Home Pest Control on the group of ants you want to terminate. This practice is a short-term solution, and it is only viable if you happen to find smaller groups of ants once in a while.
• If you want to scare the ant colony away, a more long-term solution would require the use of the Advion Ant Gel or Controz Ant Gel (they serve as baits to ants). When you apply the gel baiting, remember to place it near the edge of a wall and other suspected ant hiding places or active crawling areas for higher contact exposure. The ants exposed to the gel bait will take that bait back to their own colony nest and pass the same deadly effect along to the other ants, and thus bringing you a total victory over the whole ant colony. You may apply the gel in a size of a small green bean diameter (<5mm) but I advise you to use a little more from it for a more profound result.

How to prevent ants from ever coming back:

• Some ants can bite or sting -or both- which is considered dangerous to humans as they may trigger allergic reactions. Such allergic reactions can often be serious to a point where hospitalization may become necessary.
• How big an ant colony may grow? There is no particular answer for that question, but one thing is for sure: as long as the food source is sufficient, ant colonies can keep on growing continuously. The recent record is held by an Argentine ant colony with billions of ants in its fold!
